Administration in Bellary
The Bellary Municipal Council came into existence in 1867 AD. After India got independence from British, Bellary district was divided on linguistic basis in 1953. The Kannada speaking areas were transferred to Mysore state which went on to be known as Karnataka while the Telugu speaking areas were merged with Karnulu and Anantapuram districts which later came to be known as Andhra Pradesh.
A number of controversies and a long debate later, the city of Bellary itself were included in Mysore state- with both Kannada and Telugu speaking areas. Development of any state, district or city depends on the administrative responsibility and workouts. Proper planning and execution are two most important factors that contribute to the success of any project. The state Karnataka has shown the world how execution of any plan can be made in proper manner. This trend is adopted by almost all the cities of the state. Bellary is not an exception. Many developmental activities performed by government made this city stand on a strong platform in terms of economy and administration.
Bellary district comes under the development jurisdiction of Gulbarga, H.K.D.B and the executive control Gulbarga division. It consists of two revenue sub-divisions - Hospet subdivision and Bellary sub-division. There are total seven taluks. Hospet sub-division has four taluks and Bellary sub-division has three taluks.
Bellary Taluk is very important. It is the largest taluks among seven taluks, both in terms of area and population. The geographical area of this zone is 1689 sq.km. Population count has reached to an astonishing number of 625494 as per 2001 census. Bellary is a revenue sub-division headquarter and it has total three taluks. Bellary taluk consists of 5 RI circles.

According to the city management report of Bellary, various developmental projects have been successfully completed to give a better society to all the citizens of the town. If we take a look at the welfare activities executed by the government we can have an idea of the present condition. Construction of city bus shelters (four) and tubular poles in the city were made in 2006. Road, public toilet constructions are also made to improve the state of the society. Drain and culvert construction helped the local people in many ways. Designing the Samudaya Bhavan at the Gandhinagar area is another step taken by the authority.
Accommodation for Night Shelter less people is definitely a great step on the part of the corporation. Corporation community hall and corporation building are two premises where these homeless inhabitants got shelter in the chilly, windy nights. They are also provided with the bathroom, mat, drinking water, bedsheets, meals and some other facilities.
Bellary CourtBellary is known for maintaining law and order. There are strict laws to protect the rights of the people. Here, the execution is made with enough justification. The court was built in the year 1901 during the British era. Later, it became an important part of the state of Karnataka. The District Court is located in the heart of the city. It is close to both bus stand and railway station. Like other monuments of the city, it also offers a wide scope for people to smear the essence of past. It was presided over by many British judges.
Bellary District Court area is nicely maintained. It offers a healthy environment in the form of lighting facilities and Herbal Park. It also provides free medical help and ATM Counter. Filing Assistance and Common Filing Counter facilities are also available. It also offers Video Conference facilities, computer server room and E-stamps facility through office vendor.
